Short terms, because Fokus IO has a free tier and is still in early beta.

What you get
Fokus IO is an Android app with a free tier. There are no ads and no data is sold. The free tier covers the thirty-day path, focus sessions, blocking up to three apps and the basic screen-time figures.
Some capabilities are sold as an optional subscription: unlimited blocked apps, daily app limits, scheduled blocking, Strict Mode, the full statistics, and — for parents — the full dashboard, remote blocking, screen-time and app limits on a child’s device, device lock, location and site activity. A one-off voluntary tip is also available and unlocks nothing.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are sold, billed and renewed by Google Play, not by us. The price shown in the app before you buy is the price Google Play will charge in your own currency, and it renews automatically until you cancel. Cancel at any time in the Google Play app under Payments and subscriptions; cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves your access running until the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policy.
If a subscription ends — cancelled, expired, or a payment that could not be taken — nothing you have already set up is switched off, and nothing gets stuck. A parent keeps every control already running on their child’s device, and can always release them: unlock, unblock an app, lift a device lock, turn Strict Mode off, or unlink, subscribed or not. What ends is the ability to set up NEW paid controls until you subscribe again. A subscription must never be able to strand a child behind a lock their parent cannot lift.
Beta status
The app is in early beta. Features may change, break or be removed. It is provided “as is”, with no warranty, and no liability is accepted for lost data, blocking that fails to apply, or the service being unavailable.
For that reason, use the backup feature in Settings for anything you would not want to lose.
How you should use it
- Set up Family Sync only on a device belonging to your own child, or a child in your legal care.
- Do not monitor a child’s device without their awareness. The app makes that difficult with permanent notifications, and you should not attempt it either.
- Do not install or configure Fokus IO on another person’s device without their consent.
- Do not attempt to disrupt or overload the app or the server, or to reach other users’ data.
Accounts
No account is needed for solo use. An account is required for Family Sync and Friends. Child and solo accounts have no password — the credential on the device is the only key to the account, so clearing the app’s data can make such an account permanently unreachable.
Accounts that break the rules above may be closed.
The limits of blocking
Fokus IO uses Android’s accessibility service. That is the strongest mechanism available to an ordinary app, but it is not absolute: turning off the accessibility permission, force-stopping the app or clearing its data will stop enforcement. The app does not promise to prevent that — it detects it and reports it to the linked parent.
